If i could live my life over... |
If I could live my life over Next time I'd make more mistakes, I wouldn't try to be so perfect, I'd relax more, I'd be more foolish than I have been. In fact I'd take very little seriously, I'd be less hung up on cleanliness, I’d take more risks and travel more, I'd watch the dusk, I'd climb more mountains and cross more rivers, I'd go to more places I'd never been to, I'd heat more ice creams and fewer beans, I'd have more real problems than imagined ones. I have been one of those people Who had lived sensibly and kept busy Every moment of his life. Sure, I had moments of joy But if I could go back I'd try to have only good moments, Because if you don't already know it That's what life is made up of. Only of moments Don't forget the here and now. I have been one of those people Who never went anywhere without his thermometer, A hot water bottle, An umbrella and a parachute. If I had my life over I'd travel more lightly, I'd begin to walk bare foot at the beginning of spring, And I'd continue until the end of autumn. I'd go on more merry-go -rounds, I'd watch more dawns and play with more children. And if I were to have more life in front of me, But here we are I am 85 years old And I know that I am dying (Attributed to Jorge Luis Borges. Its authenticity is vouched for by his widow Maria Kodama)
